Groups champion uniformity in Obama mortgage plan

Associations and nonprofits have been expressing support for President Obama’s program to assist troubled homeowners, praising the plan for creating a standard by which mortgage lenders and loan servicers can rework the terms of troubled debts. According to documents released by the Department of the Treasury March 4, the so-called Making Home Affordable program is designed to assist 7 to 9 million homeowners, partly by providing $75 billion and giving lenders incentives to modify the loans of Americans at risk of foreclosure.
